Government
Government Applications for Extended Reality.
By leveraging advanced technology solutions like augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and extended reality (XR) our law enforcement agencies are able to acquire and improve crucial tactical skills in a safe and controlled environment. Our solutions have dramatically improved complex trainings with customizable, repeatable and highly interactive immersive environments that enhance officer and community safety, lower overall costs and reduce errors.
Our solutions also support real-time remote assistance enabling officers access to bomb experts or hostage negotiators in situations where they are not available onsite.
Use Case
The Master at Arms Situational Training (MAAST) is a cutting-edge, customizable Virtual Reality multi-player solution designed to revolutionize tactical training for antiterrorism and law enforcement. It prepares officers for high-stress, active shooter situations in realistic, immersive environments, fostering critical thinking and hostile intent determination. Trainers can create tailored scenarios to match specific learning goals and skill levels, while the interactive design engages trainees in tactical strategies within a safe, virtual space. Optimized for realism and comfort, it minimizes motion sickness and integrates seamlessly with laptops, fitting into a 9×9 space. Developed for the US Navy, MAAST supports military standards and enhances adaptive decision-making.
Use Case
Anvis 9 Night Vision Goggles are used to enhance visibility in low-light conditions, making them crucial for night-time missions in law enforcement, search and rescue, medical evacuation and military aviation and , especially aerial surveillance and patrol operations. To overcome the operational and maintenance challenges of the Anvis 9, AVATAR worked with the United States Coast Guard to create a cross-discipline Mixed Reality Night Vision Goggle solution that enabled precise AR overlays to directly lock on to the equipment through the HoloLens, despite the challenge that no CAD models were available at the time. The solution expanded the training capacity while reducing maintenance time, number of errors, and time on task.
Use Case
XRremote is a powerful device-agnostic 3D collaboration solution for law enforcement and high-stake environments where collaboration is critical. In a real-world NATO use case, an international law enforcement team – including personnel from the US to Belgium – were connected through XRremote within minutes, facilitating remote training and collaboration to support a critical law enforcement bomb incident. This innovative platform rapidly enabled the team to work precisely via 3D collaboration and visualization by placing AR overlays on physical objects, allowing precise, safe and effective results. With cross-platform support, the solution runs equally well on PCs and XR mobile headsets, ensuring that hardware limitations do not hinder mission critical decision-making.

IMRSA STANDARDS
IMRSA is a global organization dedicated to standardizing the development and distribution of Extended Reality (XR) experiences, encompassing Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Virtual Reality (VR). By establishing common guidelines for content tagging and functionality, IMRSA aims to streamline the XR development process, reduce costs, and enhance compatibility across different hardware and software platforms. This benefits a wide range of users, including businesses, government agencies, and educational institutions seeking to harness the power of XR technology.
